My journey began a long time ago

There I lay, thinking, now it's all over...

I was 11 years old when, after a sports accident, I thought I would lose my leg.

I was incredibly scared, but thank God everything turned out differently.

When I think back to everything little Carmen endured and suffered back then, I am incredibly proud of the little girl who has grown up.

And instead of wanting nothing more to do with the hospital after all the torture, I followed an inner calling that would later bring me back into the system as a nurse, the system under which I had suffered so much as a child.

But it's fascinating what you forget on the way to adulthood. It took some time before I woke up and realized what a gift I had been given.

It wasn't just the experiences I gained on a person's life journey, where I had the privilege of caring for numerous individuals at various stages of life in the hospital. From their first breath, through different departments and paths of suffering, various blows of fate, right up to their final journey, I learned an immeasurable amount about life.

The various limitations within the system often discouraged me, making it difficult to provide the patients with the level of care I believed should be dignified and humane for everyone involved. Therefore, I increasingly drew upon the alternative knowledge that had long since found its way to me and opened myself up to a broader perspective.

There were so many questions about life and death, between heaven and earth, whose answers modern medicine couldn't provide. And so, spirituality was discovered. Even though I struggled with it at times, I didn't want to lose my footing and wanted to be as close to life as possible.

What a journey, what amazing experiences, what impressive people I have met along the way.

Today I am happy that so many different possibilities from worlds that otherwise clash elsewhere have come together in my life. And that they can work together in a way that is enriching and powerfully supportive as a whole.

Because many people often can't imagine what each of us is actually capable of, most resign themselves to their fate. But what if we had it in our own hands?

What if we are capable of so much more?
